Background Information:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) new floodplain maps were adopted by Polk
County in September 2011.  The new maps have prompted many bank and mortgage companies to
notify property owners that their house or cabin is in the floodplain and requires flood insurance.
However, many of these properties are in fact not in a floodplain.

Solution:
We can assist you by coordinating the paperwork and surveying to potentially getting your property
removed from the floodplain.  By doing so, you'll save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars per year!

Common Questions:
    1) If I don't have a mortgage on my property and won't be selling anytime soon, why should I worry
about the floodplain?
Answer:  By coordinating multiple properties at one time, we're able to save you
money now so you're ready to sell your property in the future.
    2) I took a rough measurement of my property's elevation myself and it looks like I'm in the
floodplain.  Why should I pay to have someone tell me something I already know?
Answer:  By
obtaining a survey showing your property is in a floodplain by only a few inches, you might qualify for a
lower flood insurance rate.
    3) It's obvious my house or cabin is not in the floodplain.  Can't I just take some pictures and send
them to FEMA to get the structure removed from the floodplain?
Answer:  No.  FEMA requires a
licensed surveyor to take measurements and requires paperwork to be filed before they will remove
the structure from the floodplain.
